A practical Pagan spirituality of nature, craft, and community
This is first and foremost an artistic piece: its form, creatively, the closest expression of my own journey and understanding; and it being crafted to use commonly understandable, basic, but deeply meaningful language.
As a publication, it brings together a number of separate works in one place, showing the evolution of Greenfire Druidry as a universal, challenging, if deeply personal, ideology. This has involved months of heavy and reflective editting.
It's job is to bootstrap, or at least contribute to, a bit of a cultural and spiritual tradition, which is delicate work.
I've identified as a Pagan / Druid for over a year now. As is to be expected, I suppose, this has been an ongoing process of exploring spirituality, culture and history, and general soul searching.
But, I'm also a socialist - and one with a pretty rigorous political education and a serious, scientific worldview to boot.
So, as it happens, spirituality has presented me with a bit of a challenge, and I'm still working through exactly how my ideology marries up with an appreciation for inner mystery and the oneness of life!
Suffice it to say, there is no instruction manual for this sort of thing.
I hope this pamphlet will be helpful to those close to me, in pinning down and setting out "where I'm at" more articulately than I've yet been able to do in conversation.
I don't expect you to come with my own niche set of special interests, and so I have tried not to assume prior knowlege in any field. I start with some of my personal story, some background to druidry and socialism in themselves, and bring it all together in terms of where I am and where I'm going with it all.
Whatever aspect of Greenfire drew you near - the scientific or spiritual; the analytical or creative; the culture or lifestyle; etc. - I trust you'll find the things you've been looking for, but, perhaps more importantly, I hope you'll also find nourishment in their opposites.
